Canada, formerly the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation of Canada,
speaks for thousands of men and their families who, each year, are
diagnosed with prostate cancer. With our 120 affiliated support groups
across Canada we:
help individuals and their families understand and cope with prostate cancer by providing up to date medical information and individual support
lobby for increased funding for research, treatment facilities and programs
promote the importance of early detection through public awareness campaigns
The Canadian Prostate Cancer Network Becomes Prostate Cancer Canada
"It's a new day for prostate cancer support groups across Canada,"
remarks Bob Shiell. "We have amalgamated with Prostate Cancer Canada, formerly known as the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation
of Canada." The result? Ultimately, the benefit to men newly
diagnosed with prostate cancer will be a coast-to-coast network of
strengthened support groups that will have more and better tools and
training.
Conference 2009
The Network’s sixth annual national prostate cancer conference takes place in September 2009, and preparations are heating up. Conference organizers have lined up exceptional speakers, e.g., Dr. Mark Moyad, Dr John Mulhall, and Dr. T. A. Loeffler, and an up-to-date conference program can be downloaded from our site. In July, conference speaker T. A. Loeffler is climbing Mount Elbrus in honour of her father and to raise awareness of prostate cancer.
Supplements for prostate health: So what does work?
The title of Dr. Moyad's presentation to our 2008 conference, "Dietary
supplements from A-Z, What Works and What's Worthless," speaks
directly to the frustration men with prostate cancer experience when
trying to choose complementary therapies. We all have a fairly good
idea of which foods and lifestyle choices are good for us. But vitamins,
supplements, and other complementary therapies for prostate cancer
seem to fall in and out of favour, leaving us befuddled. So PCCN has
undertaken to summarize the current research
